Patricio “Pitbull” Freire once again reigns supreme in the Bellator featherweight division.
Freire submitted Daniel Straus Friday night in the main event of Bellator 178 to win the title. The event took place from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, with the main card airing live on Spike.
The Brazilian locked up a tight guillotine choke early in the second round, improving to 3-1 all-time vs. Straus.
In the co-main event, Ilima Macfarlane submitted Jessica Middleton with an armbar, while top prospect A.J. McKee kicked off the televised action with a head-kick knockout vs. Dominic Mazzotta.
